Hot new social network, Steemit.com, which allows people to actually earn money directly for their social media influence, is taking the world by storm. That is going to bring a lot of attention to Odoo, the open source ERP system that I started working with years ago, back when it was still called OpenERP.
What is the connection between Steemit and Odoo? Well, Steemit pays people in Bitcoin, which means Steemit could be the "killer app" that finally makes Bitcoin into something that normal people own and use--not just hear random internet stories about.
As Bitcoin goes mainstream, more and more people will want to pay for things using their Bitcoins--not just online, but at actual brick-and-mortar stores. The best way to do that is through open source secure payment technology BlockPay. Odoo was the first QR/NFC point-of-sale system to integrate with BlockPay, which instantly enabled over 50,000 merchants who use Odoo and BlockPay to accept Bitcoin at the point-of-sale.
